Week 14 – 2009: Recovery Week
BOT:
Aloha UFOhana.
Well I can’t say I’m glad last week was over but I can say I’m glad to be sitting here basking in the after glow of another Fantastic Friday! First Brittni and now Herb, can we ask for anything more? Ummmmmm, Maaaaaybe . . . ![]()
For those of you who attended the Kanikapila with Herb Ohta Jr. all I can say is HOLY . . . . WOW! I know Jan must of heard us singing her favorites out to her. A big Mahalo Nui to you all for sharing your Aloha and Mana with the Kristal family. Alan asks that I pass on his Mahalos to you all.
What a fabulous Kanikapila night with Herb huh? But I have to admit to that deadly sin, Pride, when he said you folks ROCKED! Go UFOhana!
Then as if that wasn’t enough a 2 Day Ukulele Workshop with him too? If there’s an Ukulele Heaven on earth, this must be verrrrry close to it. Along with his awesome knowledge of Ukulele, I was also impressed by Herb’s repertoire of Portagee Jokes! I know, I know, not very PC here. But hey, like Spam in Hawaii, it’s an acquired taste and of course all in fun.
And as Manny, Da Famous Portagee Philosopher, would say:
“Besides, life is too short ya? . . . but look how wide!”
Ok, so back to just plain old Friday Night Kanikapilas! Hope you folks won’t be too bored now. But I was thinking for “Spring Foods” for the food theme. Btw, chocolate bunnies, okay, real cooked bunnies, No-kay!
Please do blog-in with your incoming rations as we may be a little thin this week. What with all the Merrie Monarch birds flying out to the Islands and all.
Again, thanks to all the lucky Color Plate holders (you know who you are) for their wonderful job of clean-up and to our 5 foot 10 - Menehune (Linaka) for always helping with the odds and end clean ups.
So here’s another 1000-Words from this last week (Mahalo Susie, Palapala and Patty for their photo contributions!):
Woa! Are those Coconuts on your Uke or are you just glad to . . .
Nice Hat Herb!
UFOhana Couplets. Do you really think KimoB is enjoying his Solos Master role?
Probably as much as Susie? Herb and Donley afta Da Jam.
Beautiful! What’s a Kanikapila without Hula?
The Solo Pilots in Flight. Nice Hat Herb! Hey . . . is that Susie again?
Herb Ohta Jr.’s UFOhana Ukulele Dojo and Beginning Graduates.
Herb Ohta Jr.’s UFOhana Ukulele Dojo Advanced Graduates.
Hanging out at the Famous Bogie’s
Mahalo Leslie for Keeping the Place Open for us!
Lastly, a Mahalo Nui Loa. to Kimo: for introducing Susie and Herb, to Bolos: for bringing Shabbat and Brittni, to the UFOhana!
We are truly blessed to have such a wonderful Ohana.

Auwe! I looks like I picked the wrong couple of weeks to be away.
If the generous cooks are all away this week, then I better bring some serious komfort kau kau - wine, and chicken cassarole. Plus a surprise from the land of the rising sun.

I'm afraid I'll have to break with formation again this week. Me and Missus B. have the flu, so we're in quarantine. Hopefully, the next time I see you, I'll have figured out how to transfer the Brittni and Herb Ohta Jr. footage to DVD. Gettin' there...
Del, what a fantastic couple of weeks the last two have been. Thanks for everything! (I sure picked a good time to rejoin the squadron.)
