Week 45 – 11.09.09: Show Tunes Solos

BOT:

Alooooooha Ahi Ahi UFOhana!

Whooooooweee! What a great Kanikapila last this past Friday huh? I think I’ve got the lay off those Mocha Lattes for a while, or maybe it was those fabulous Ginger Margarrrrrrrritas! Thanks Patty! The Matzo Balls were Ono-licious too!

E’ Komo Mai to Steve Curley (yes, another Steve), Terry Curley and Ron San Miguel. Welcome to the UFOhana and Mahalo for adding your Aloha spirit to the group! Great Solos everyone. Love the “Letter B” mele Amy! I also know that Ron made quite an impression on everyone. Mahalo Kathy for introducing him to the Ohana. Great Revival Boloz! Aaaa Yea! I know you can walk without that Ukulele! HEAL! HEAL!

So I’ve decided to postpone BTOB (Battle Of The Bands) night until Kathy and Ron makes it back next Friday (11/20). More on BTOB next week. When we’ll be also celebrating a few Birthdays I understand. Kathy’s Big ? Oh oh, Al’s and Rick’s ? Oh oh too. So this week we’ve decided to do ‘Show Tunes’ instead. So “Start Spreading the News!” and thinking about “Memories” here are a few for us to think about . . .

      Aloha Jeni,

Yes some of us think we're getting too old for this .  .  .  .  . NAH!

Hula huh? Hmmmmm, we could always use another Hula dancer. . . .

Btw, we also have website www.kahua51.org that talks more about who we are and with pictures going back to year 1. We're on our 9th year of Kanikapilas.

Mahalos for the shout out all the way from LA!

      Aloha,

OK, Here's what happened, Sunday 7:30 AM moving cars so the surf wagon can complete it's mission the pilot shut his thumb in the hatch. not following safe procedure he jerked said thumb out while executing a big hop. tip of thumb is broken (compound fracture)
received sutures and pin to stabilize break. Thumb under quarantine until pin is removed and wounds have healed. Probably after Thanksgiving.
I'm at home and keeping my spirits and medication up, "I shall return" Kawika

I'm planning on coming, maybe with my new little djembe in hand. I want to make my heart-healthy chocolate/walnut cookies again, but I haven't figured out how to classify them as show food. Hey, does "show tunes" include movies, or only Broadway?

Cool! Glad to hear you'll be UFOhana bound Brudda!

I think it would be safe to say that Show Tunes could also be consider something like 'Musicals'? Which would include both Live Performances and Movies right? Like Hair, Jesus Christ Superstar, you know. Hey, but when have we ever been so critical? I'll even consider music from the Charlie Brown Cartoon series as Show tunes!

And no worry about classiffying the cookies as show food! Just 'Show' it to us and we'll eat it!!!!!!

      Mahalos,

I'm also on the disabled list, but not as bad off as Kavika. My left middle finger isn't broken, just sore. I'm going to have to lay off it until next week.

    See you next week, gangy.
